postheadericon Rochester Toy Library

Today, we are going to take a venture and check out the Rochester Toy Library.  We have used this service many years ago in the past but it was its own entity, now we have learned it is part of the Monroe County Library System. So excited to check it out!

If you are too busy to check out the website, here is what it says:

The Toy Resource Center at the Lincoln Branch Library (TRC) offers a wide variety of toys and equipment to enrich play experiences between children and their caregivers. The 4000 toy collection and large playroom is primarily aimed at children ages newborn to 8 years old. Being part of the Rochester Library, and part of the Monroe County Library System, anyone with a library card in the metro-Rochester area can borrow toys. Or you can just visit and play in the playroom. The toys are divided up into various sections, and the collection includes riding toys, puzzles, games, musical instruments, puppets, trains, blocks, building sets, play kitchens, doll houses, dress up clothes, science sets, and many, many more. There's even a section devoted to special needs toys and learning aids. The TRC is always staffed by a professional toy library employee and a number of dedicated volunteers, the Toy Resource Center is open for you and your children!!

unfortunatley we did not go today, I hadn't thought in advance to get specific permission for this trip (I have a standing permission for for all feild trips). A few friends stated that this toy library is not in the best neighborhood. I waited until the parents arrived and asked permission, luckily I did as they were not comfortable with the idea. I will need to plan a visit on my own... I certainly want safety to be a priority for my little ones..it's just sad that fun places like this can be located in worrisome neighborhoods :(
